I made a font! Download this fun hand-lettered font for free!

I’ve had a love affair with typography and lettering for years, and I’ve been wanting to try my hand at font-making for almost as long. I tried dabbling in creating a font a couple of times, but the process is quite time consuming, so I never actually completed anything I was happy with.

There are several programs out there that you can use for making your own fonts, some are more professional than others (and as a result a lot more expensive). I tried a couple of free options, but they didn’t produce great results. Since I wanted an opportunity to make an actual useable font but not necessarily invest in expensive software, I settled on iFontMaker

I also really wanted to be able to use my iPad and Apple pencil to create my font in my own hand-lettering style and this is an app designed for the iPad, so it felt like a good fit. It’s not a free app, but it’s fairly inexpensive (I think around $8.)

I started by creating a basic hand-lettered font in my own printing style (but neater! lol!) and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

One of the things that I really like about iFontMaker over free font-making tools is the ability to adjust kerning between letters, not just overall, but between pairs of letters. You can also create a variety of ligaments as well.

I think this font will be perfect for digital planning on my iPad (I love Goodnotes!) or even for creating social media posts. If you’d like to download my font to use on your iPad or desktop computer, you’re welcome to do that here.

If you use it on social, I’d love to see it! Be sure to tag me so I can check it out!  :)

Enjoy!
