I’ve been designing websites for a while now...my first site was hand-coded in HTML back in 1998. (You can imagine how awesome it looked! ha!)

Since then I’ve used plain code, Microsoft FrontPage (remember that!?), DreamWeaver, and eventually WordPress to build sites. Some of those sites were for clients and some were for me.  ;)

Until recently, I believe that Wordpress was the only option for a professional, high quality website. However the maintenance that comes with a Wordpress site was starting to be a pain and I began looking at other options.

I gave Squarespace a try (which was easy, thanks to their 2 week trial period!) and I haven’t looked back since.

Of course, there’s been a bit of a learning curve moving from Wordpress to Squarespace, but now that I’ve got the hang of it, I couldn’t be happier.

Here’s why I made the switch (and why you might want to too!)

1. No maintenance. Unlike Wordpress, Squarespace takes care of all updates for you!
2. No plugins needed. Everything you need is built right into Squarespace. You don’t need to go hunting for a plugin or worry about whether it’s reputable.
3. Security is a breeze. Squarespace has its own security (no need for extra plugins) and backs up your site for you. No more worrying about being hacked!
4. Live chat support. When you need help, just hop online and talk to someone through live chat.
5. One-stop shop. Your domain, hosting and e-commerce plans can all be purchased through Squarespace. I love having everything in one place, in one simple payment.
6. Minimal design. I love simple, clean design with lots of whitespace. Squarespace fits this aesthetic perfectly and offers many beautiful templates.
7. Mobile-friendly. Squarespace templates are built to be mobile-ready out of the box.
8. Intuitive back-end. Once you get the hang of using Squarespace, it’s super easy to update your website or blog.
9. Customization galore. You can customize any font, color, button, etc. on your website without knowing any code.
10. Room for growth. The personal plan is super affordable and works ‘as is’ for many businesses. If you decide you need additional functionality or want to add an e-commerce store, it’s easy to upgrade.

If you’re a solopreneur, like me, and you plan on updating your own blog and website but don’t want to mess with code, then Squarespace is an awesome (headache-free) option.
